Meeting Notice

We are now meeting at RE/MAX Opportunities, 2350 NW 128th St, Urbandale, IA.

There is a meeting fee of $10/person on Wednesday nights and a meal will be provided.  If you are guest, you should plan to add a $10 guest fee.  The fee is for the meeting, not the food.  (In other words, if you don't like Scarpino's Pizza, and you choose to not eat that is up to you -- the fee is for the meeting and helps defer our expenses).

You can eat for 10 bucks, hear some informative speakers, sharpen your RE investing skills and network with like-minded peers.  You can't find a better bargain in town!

Special Notice

Two Rivers REIA is pleased to announce that we are sponsoring Steve Lipovac's upcoming training series "Wealth Building with Keeper Houses", for five Tuesdays in a row, beginning June 1.   Sessions go from 7-9:00PM, and an introduction to this workshop series will be offered on Wednesday, May 26th, at the usual Two Rivers REIA meeting.

The fee for this workshop series is very reasonable at $125, or 10 hours of training for $12.50/hour!   Coupled with the interaction of those in attendance, this promises to be a huge learning opportunity.

Whether you're a beginner just dipping your toe, a seasoned veteran looking to take your game to the next level, or somewhere in between this will be a unique opportunity to learn muliple ways to take advantage of the current buyers market in real estate.

Here's where you register!   If you would like to be on a payment plan, yet will commit to the entire series, send an email to Andrew.Lietzow@gmail.com and I'll be glad to help set something up.  We want everyone who's interested to gain the benefits of what will be offered.

ABOUT TWO RIVERS REIA
Our members include investors at all experience levels -- eager beginners, semi-pros, and seasoned veterans -- many of whom seek to hone their skills in one or several areas of RE investing.

The Two Rivers REIA provides:

1) Education on most every area of residential RE investing
2) Networking with like-minded peers
3) Mentoring opportunities with RE investors who have been through it all and want to give something back to others!

Many of our member have experienced the ups and downs of real estate cycles.  Collectively, we have hundreds of years of investing experience.  Many are willing to share this experience just for the asking.  Membership is nominally priced.  See our membership page for more info!

Members agree to abide by our Code of Ethics.  The association structure is an LLC while the bylaws are a work in progress.  :^)  No, really.  It's not a top priority, but they are a work in progress.

HOT DIGGITY DOG! NEWS

FHA relaxes anti-flipping rule, to spur sales of foreclosed properties.   Here is a link to the PDF file, announcing the temporary suspension of the 90-seasoning rule, effective February 1, 2010.  This is an executive order which is pro-rehabber, coming directly from a new hud.gov administration, effective for one-year period.  This ruling will help banks liquidate inventory, and help homeowners and investors alike -- right now!    This is good news, as we head into the traditionally stronger spring market.  With the $8,000 first-time home-buyers tax credit, and the current home-owners $6,500 still being available, rehabbers will want to take note!

MARKET UPDATE: Post Convention 2010
Lots going on.  Constantly changing market, interest rates, lending requirements - not a good time to miss meetings.  At our meetings, if you don't pick up one idea worth five times what you paid for admission, you're either "The Donald" and already know everything, or you're just not listening fast enough!

Check out the schedule -- today!   We've got some great meetings ahead, yet they won't be nearly as good - if you are not there!

Time and Location<Back to top>
The meeting location changes now and then.  Our current meeting location is, RE/MAX Opporunities - 2850 NW 128th St, Urbandale - Click for Map).

We are including a "deal makers" table, at every meeting.  Members and guests are welcome to bring promo literature, to be placed on the table outside the meeting room.    (Note: If you do not own the property, or have a contract on it, it is against Iowa Law to promote property for sale without a Real Estate Brokerage or Sales license.  Be aware!).

2nd Saturday of each month - 8:00 - 10:30 AM

Formal business agenda with a presentation.  Meetings include time for casual networking both before and after the presentation.  Sometimes we include an optional "field education" event of touring properties.  Typically, the meeting ends around 10:30.

4th Wednesday - September through May - 6:00 - 8:30 PM
Similar to Saturday's meeting but more networking time after the meeting.   Members becoming more successful in RE Investing and making money! - that's what this meeting is all about.  Typically, the meeting ends around 8:30.

Our guest fee is now $20, as of January 15, 2010.  All non-active members are considered guests.  Renewing membership the night of the meeting will drop the fee to $10 for that meeting, plus the membership dues, of course.

Note that guests can join for a full quarter for only $20 (up to six meetings) and just pay a $10 fee, which includes some food.   Call 515-710-1955 or email Andrew Lietzow at
info@TwoRiversREIA.org, should you have questions.

Want to propose a speaker or an agenda item?  By all means, do it!

 Our Membership <Back to Top>

Official membership kickoff was March 1, 2007, having completed our 10th meeting. Our membership application is short:
1) Are you an investor, or at least a real estate investor wannabe?
2) Are you willing to invest the membership fee, with the understanding that part of the benefits you will receive depend on your participation in meetings and active interaction through networking?
3) Will you sign and observe the TRREIA Code of Ethics?

If yes to all three, your approval is virtually assured!

Members who join during 2007 are our "charter members" and may one day receive special recognition for their important early commitment.

As our membership has evolved, so have our meetings.  We try to ensure that each member enjoys benefits which accrue only through participation in a REIA. The vast majority of our meetings are not "selling" meetings but educational.  This is by design.

Guests are welcome to attend meetings for a $20 meeting fee  See the
 Membership Page
 for complete info.

An Investment Club within the Two Rivers REI Association? <Back to top>
In addition to facilitating a learning and sharing environment, we are creating an "Real Estate Investor's Club" which will provide opportunities for investment and hands-on mentoring.

Lynda Clayton will be spear-heading a project task force in 2010 to give more focus to achieving this goal.   Choosing to participate will be purely voluntary.  We don't know how this will really work, so to get in one the ground floor, get hold of Lynda!  See Lynda at a meeting to get more information.
